a new favorite..

my pots are my canvas.
when you paint and carve on your pots, like i do, there is nothing as beautiful and as liberating as a large canvas such as this one! a serving platter, has so many possibilities. shew, it gets me so excited!!! this one came out of the kiln in january. i love how it turned out! it measures approximately 18" in diameter.
there will definitely be more of these in the future.

 recently, i delivered it to
Mountain Nest Gallery in Black Mountain NC

HCC love!

In case you didn't know, my formal education in clay was through the Profession Crafts program at Haywood Community College in Clyde, North Carolina.  This totally awesome two year program combines intensive studio hours with design, business and marketing classes. In making art a career, it is truly all encompassing, something my university degree was greatly lacking. i am a huge fan of the hcc craft program! check out their website here:
around the time i was leaving the program, the deteriorating state of the building was becoming very evident.  the school and the community rallied for a new building. now, a tlast, the building is complete!

Congratulations HCC!
